Season 16 -Renewing Our Commitments
It is with a strong sense of renewal that musiConnects launches Season 16! We continue to be guided by a belief that transformative musical experiences are a right for all, a conviction that led us to identify several key activities that are at our core and essential to our identity:
- no-to-low cost education and performance activities centered in Boston’s Roslindale and Mattapan neighborhoods
- education initiatives that engage students with weekly private instruction, ensemble opportunities, performances, and a powerful curriculum encouraging teenage students to explore music’s capacity for social change
- a commitment to provide free community concerts featuring our faculty of professional musicians, designed to be financially and culturally accessible, and centered in our students’ neighborhoods

There are so many exciting projects and events planned this season, including:
- a student-to-student mentor project which will move from pilot to program
- a beautiful faculty performance program mixing Arabic, Native American, and Peruvian-inspired music
- the return of musiConnects’ annual, multidisciplinary holiday concert, Kai and the Lights, written by award-winning poet and activist Ashley-Rose
- a performance project supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, in which students will participate in workshops about concert design and test new ways to engage audiences - venues, repertoire, and presentation - in an informal “Errands Tour” concert series. The festival will conclude with the world premiere of an original "All-Play" composition - written for faculty and students of all ages and levels - by composer and educator Rachel Panitch. More info to come!
